Xavi Hernandez showed up in the Spanish team's uniform last Saturday to face off against AFE veterans in a charity game backed by RFEF.
Back in 1999, Xavi was part of the incredible Spanish U-20 squad that clinched the U20 FIFA World Cup, making it Spain's solitary international victory in this group till now.
That very squad reunited to take on AFE veterans in a friendly match at the Sant Antoni Municipal Football Field in Ibiza.
While the game was on, journalist David Bernabeu approached Xavi to chat about the match and pass on a message to Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
Although the Barcelona icon discussed the game and the fans' support, he flatly refused to discuss Laporta. When Bernabeu asked if there's a message for President Laporta, Xavi responded with a simple "No, thanks."
Xavi's silence regarding Laporta spoke volumes about their strained relationship since Xavi's coaching tenure at Barcelona ended on a sour note due to Laporta's dissatisfaction with his training methods and public statements. Laporta even elaborated on his decision in a recent interview, pointing out issues like physical and mental readiness among the Barcelona players.
Considering all this, it's easy to understand why Xavi might feel let down by Barcelona's management.
