Xavi explains Vitor Roque’s limited playing time for Barcelona

It's been two months since Vitor Roque joined Barcelona, and after a slow start, the Brazilian forward showcased his talent with two goals in two games before facing an unfortunate suspension. However, he has seen limited minutes since his return from the ban.

Roque, the marquee signing from last summer, generated immense excitement upon his arrival in January. Despite displaying glimpses of his potential, he has struggled to secure significant playing time at the beginning of his Barça journey.

In a recent press conference, coach Xavi Hernández addressed Roque's limited minutes, attributing it to various factors such as his arrival following an injury, the need to adapt to the team's system, and stiff competition within the squad, especially with Robert Lewandowski excelling as the central striker.

Xavi emphasized that Roque is still adjusting to his new role on the wing and stressed that it's only a matter of time before he fully integrates into the team and makes significant contributions. The coaching staff's approach of gradually integrating Roque into the team reflects a deliberate effort to manage expectations and foster his development steadily.

While expectations were high upon Roque's arrival, the coaching staff recognizes the importance of allowing him time to adapt and grow gradually. With Lewandowski's exceptional form and tactical preferences favoring a four-midfielder system, Roque has patiently awaited his opportunities and has made the most of them when given the chance.

The initial phase of Roque's journey at Barcelona is seen as an adaptation period, during which he is expected to acclimate to the team dynamics and tactical nuances. Despite limited playing time, he is showing promising signs of adaptation, and his role is anticipated to expand as he continues to develop within the squad.
