Xavi Reaches Milestone with Barcelona: 100 Games as Head Coach

This Wednesday at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto, Xavi Hernández will proudly step onto the pitch to coach his 100th match as FC Barcelona's head coach. Since taking over the reins in November 2021, he has achieved an impressive record of 63 wins, 17 draws, and 19 defeats, securing two titles – a league championship and a Spanish Super Cup.

As the Champions League group stage for the 2023/24 season unfolds, Xavi reflects on his journey by taking a SPORT quiz to commemorate his first 99 games at the helm. In this quiz, he highlights the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid as his best night in charge, mentions his newfound lessons in stability and tranquility, and expresses his desire to celebrate more titles along the way if he reaches 200 games.

Xavi's Answers to the SPORT Quiz:

Best Match: The victory against Real Madrid in the Super Cup. It was our first title, against our arch-rivals, and the game epitomized the style we aspire to.

Most Difficult Match: The 0-3 home defeat to Bayern Munich last year.

Most Celebrated Goal: Kessié's 2-1 against Real Madrid.

Learnings from 100 Games: To maintain stability. There is significant external pressure, and I've learned to shield the players from excessive euphoria or negativity.

Biggest Surprise: The heightened pressure and expectations compared to my time as a player.

Differences Between Xavi of the First Game and the 100th Game: I have gained more experience and a greater sense of composure. I approach matches with increased calmness.
