Xavi has decided to exclude Barcelona youth players from squad lists if their chances of playing are slim.

While it's a positive step for young footballers to be included in the senior matchday squads, their presence without any actual game time raises questions from both senior management and the youth team setup at Barcelona.

Under Xavi's leadership, several youth team players have been part of matchday squads but have not had meaningful roles in the matches. This situation mirrors what happened in the previous season with Pablo Torre, who struggled to secure significant playing time, both with the first team and the reserve squad. Consequently, the decision for him to go on loan to Girona made more sense.

The latest player facing this predicament is Marc Casado. Despite Xavi and Barça Atlètic manager Rafa Márquez maintaining a strong relationship, the constant rotation of youth team players is beginning to have an impact. In response, Xavi has started to create shorter squad lists for recent matches, adhering to Barcelona's new policy. Players like Marc Casado, vital for Barça Atlètic, won't be called up to the first team unless there's a genuine chance of them playing.

Marc Casado, who serves as the captain of Barça Atlètic, appeared on the first-team sheet for all seven initial matches of the season but never saw action, not even as a substitute. However, this doesn't necessarily imply that Xavi doesn't value the contributions of youth team players.
