The defender is keen to get regular first-team football this season.

The Barcelona central defender, finding himself on the fringes of the team, is eager to secure a loan move to gain valuable playing time. According to information from SPORT, García recently engaged in a conversation with coach Xavi Hernandez, expressing his intention to pursue a loan opportunity, potentially for a season.

The decision now rests with Barcelona. As disclosed by Nil Solà, a journalist from Cadena SER, Girona emerges as the most appealing option for Eric. The prospect of joining Míchel's team has motivated him. However, there are currently two factors posing challenges to the operation. Firstly, from a sporting perspective, Xavi believes that García could contribute meaningfully throughout the season.

Secondly, on the financial front, there's a complication. Relations between the clubs have been strained following the signing of Oriol Romeu. Furthermore, Girona would likely only be able to manage a loan deal where Barcelona covers a substantial portion of García's wages. Barça recognizes that greenlighting such an arrangement may not align well with their financial "fair play," but they also understand that their consent could be a favor to a player who has consistently maintained a positive attitude.

With the window closing in three days, the influence of Eric and his agent, Iván de la Peña, could play a pivotal role in breaking the impasse. As reported by SER, Girona is nearing the sale of Santi Bueno to the Premier League for a sum exceeding 15 million euros. This influx of funds might encourage Barcelona to seek financial compensation for Eric. Additionally, Betis, another club in search of a central defender, has expressed interest in acquiring the player.
