"Former Barcelona Striker Saviola Not Surprised by Lamine Yamal's First-Team Breakthrough"

 

The 16-year-old prodigy has stolen the spotlight this season at Barça, delivering sensational performances in his three La Liga appearances while commanding the right flank.

Xavi Hernandez's preference for the La Masia sensation over more established choices like Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati underlines the immense faith invested in Yamal by the club.

Saviola's Expectations Met by Yamal's Rise Saviola, who enjoyed a six-year stint at Barcelona as a player, also served as the assistant manager for the Barcelona Juvenil A (Under-19) team last season. During that time, the then-15-year-old Yamal left a significant mark.

Elaborating on the attributes that set Yamal apart at such a tender age, Saviola commented, "I noticed it in his composure during pressure situations, in numerous aspects that, at 15 years old, reveal his remarkable mental fortitude and his ability to shoulder the team."

The former stars of both Barcelona and Real Madrid then highlighted the 16-year-old's strides in enhancing certain facets of his game, affirming, "He is a superb attacker, incredibly skilled, and we have already witnessed considerable growth in his goal-scoring abilities."

Given these qualities, Saviola asserted that Yamal is indeed a special player, and his breakthrough at the first-team level is entirely in line with expectations.

"Amidst the many talented players, the exceptional ones stand out less frequently. It is no coincidence that he has secured a spot in the first team and Xavi has entrusted him with substantial playing time at the age of 16," Saviola emphasized.

"This speaks volumes on its own: his potential is immense, and he is also a perceptive individual who heeds advice."

Expanding on the same note, he continued, "The lack of surprise stems from our knowledge that he would handle this situation remarkably well. We were convinced that upon entering the first team, he would exhibit the same maturity, seamlessly integrating and displaying dedication in training."
