Xavi has criticised La Liga’s decision to increase Robert Lewandowski’s ban.

The veteran striker was sent off against Osasuna on November 8 in Barcelona's final game before the Word Cup break, a 2-1 loss.

After just 30 minutes, the Polish international received a second yellow card from the referee Jesus Gil Manzano for a poor challenge on David Garcia.

Lewandowski claimed that he was referring to Xavi and the Barcelona bench when he appeared to make a gesture that suggested Manzano was "on drugs."

After the World Cup, Lewandowski won't be able to watch Barcelona play in the Catalan derby against Espanyol, as well as league games against Atletico Madrid and Real Betis.

After the RFEF and La Liga reviewed Manzano's post-game report, the 34-year-old player expressed his own frustration with the update in recent days. Xavi echoed the player's feelings.

"We will make an appeal.According to reports from Marca, "We believe it’s an excessive sanction for an impulsive gesture that he perfectly explained."

Let's see if we can lessen it because it's an excessive amount of punishment.

We think it's excessive because Robert has always been an example of good behavior.
