Argentina 1-2 Saudi Arabia all details.

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia overcame a deficit to defeat Argentina 2-1 in Qatar, one of the biggest upsets of the World Cup and recent history.

Last part objectives from Saleh Alshehri and Salem Aldawsari offset Lionel Messi's opener in the initial game in Gathering C as Argentina's 36-game unbeaten streak was finished.

Argentina took the lead in the 10th minute from the penalty spot after a shirt pull in the box for Messi, who was competing in his fifth World Cup.

Mohammed Alowais had also made a save from Messi's first touch, and Saudi Arabia appeared to be going to pay for their high line at times in the first half.

But they were right, and before the break, Argentina had three goals disallowed for offside.

Before two Lautaro Martinez goals, the first of which was only marginal, were dismissed, Messi's effort was the first.

In the first eight minutes of the second half, everything changed.

Argentina was stunned when Alshehri equalized in the 48th minute, and then Aldawsari's brilliant goal turned the game around.

After that, Argentina kept trying, but even after 14 minutes of extra time, they never really got close to equalizing the score.

Alowais saved a Messi header and a Julian Alvarez header as Saudi Arabia held on for the historic victory.
