All eyes on Griezmann

Luis Suarez is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a knee injury, which means that newly-appointed head coach Quique Setien is now in search of a striker to fill the void left by the Uruguayan.

Barcelona's financial situation, along with the difficulty of finding an available elite striker in the January transfer window, is preventing them from moving for a player in the near future.

Inter forward Lautaro Martinez is considered to be too expensive whilst also being unrealistic in January, and the board are not willing to make the same miscalculation they did this time last year with Kevin-Prince Boateng's arrival.

In addition, Ousmane Dembele is entering the final stage of his recovery and Setien will be able to count on him soon.

In the summer, Barcelona will have time to search for the striker who will eventually take the place of the ageing Uruguayan.

Barcelona can't sign a non-EU playerThe Blaugrana have no available spot for a non-EU player as all three are covered by Arturo Vidal, Arthur Melo and Ronald Araujo, who will occupy the gap left in the squad after Jean-Clair Todibo's move to Schalke.
