Strategic idea for reduction of the wage bill.

Gaspart, who was Barça president from 2000 to 2003, stressed that Barcelona's financial situation has improved significantly compared to three years ago.

He noted that the club was on track to finish this year in the black after previously losing €200 million a year.

I have information that President Laporta has given to the senators," Gaspart said, according to SPORT.

Montjuic has penalised us with 100 million euros, so we should have lost 300 million euros, but we will win," he added.

Gaspart explained that this positive change is the result of strategic financial management, including reducing personnel costs and increasing revenues. He explained this by recalling a previous decision when the team had to sell legendary player Diego Maradona due to an unsustainable economic situation, which ultimately led to an increase in his salary.

We sold Maradona because the economic situation was untenable. "

"The same thing happened with Messi, he was a '10' but he got a wage increase. We are doing better," he added.

In defending Laporta's leadership, Gaspart made it clear that his support was not politically motivated.

"I want to make it clear that I am not a Laporta supporter," he explained. "I didn't vote for Laporta," he said of Barcelona's current economic and institutional position.

Finally, he also commented on the new Camp Nou, saying that it will take longer than the Santiago Bernabeu because, unlike Madrid, they are building a sports city.
